AI is not just way faster, but orders of magnitude superior to humans in predicting Protein folding.
Protein folding is critically important because a protein's 3D folded structure determines its biological function.
Proteins are the molecular machinery of life—they power cellular metabolism, transport oxygen, fight off infections, and replicate DNA.
However, a protein cannot perform any of these tasks as a flat, linear chain of amino acids. It must fold into a precise, complex 3D shape to interact with other biological molecules.
Even our current AI is orders of magnitude superior to humans in predictingg protein folding.
