Ken's Baked Pears - Super fast and tasty
Get a few of your favorite pears. I use BOSC because they're crisp and not too sweet.
Cut them in half lengthwise and place in a casserole dish cut side up.
Splash with lots of white wine. Squeeze on a fresh lemon. Then drizzle with honey.
Bake at 350F until soft. If you want extra browning then after baking add a bit more honey and switch to broil for a few minutes. But be careful not to burn.
Here's a list of pear varieties with their key charactersistics Pears
Tech Notes:
Experiment with the poaching liquid. Try red wine, or cranberry juice, or whatever juice you like. I sometimes add a splash of cognac.
Sugar is not needed because the honey takes care of that.
Try with different fruits. Apples are an obvious choice, but pineapple is not so obvious and works well.
